Who we are: Connections Community Church

We are a new church plant in our nascence, starting from scratch in Irvine, CA, with a core team and no members as of yet. During the covid-19 pandemic Zoom online will be our major mode for reaching and gathering people, and the Alpha series along with other new small group formats, are ways we will use for reaching unchurched people. Our mission is to reach and engage unchurched people who are 'turned off' to church and far away from God because they no longer see God as relevant. Our heart is for these dear ones who are more commonly known as the Nones and Dones and SBNR’s. In order to facilitate the success of our initial and ongoing outreaches to them, Connections Community Church needs a pastoral intern who will undergo training by the Lead Pastor in the Alpha method, which is the DNA of our fabric, and, then assume a major responsibility in helping make the Alpha series, as well as other venues successful by increasing our numbers and overseeing unchurched people embark on the journey toward entering the Kingdom.

What skills/qualities are needed:

  • Must be enrolled in university or seminary for 2021-2022 year
  • Must reside within the Orange County or Riverside County areas, be willing to be on site once reopening guidelines permit
  • Must be a team player
  • Outgoing personality, with a trait of “grit”, not easily discouraged
  • Teachable spirit
  • Evangelism and Engagement skills, lover of people
  • Ability to multitask
  • Marketing and Social Media skills
  • Ability to hit the ground running and ability to work independently once tasks are assigned
  • A vital faith in Jesus
  • Belief in gender equality in church leadership
  • Ability to work in an environment of going from “nothing to something”
  • Understands how to leverage your StrengthsFinder Top 5 to bring people together and communicate goals of CCC; Meyers-Briggs 16PF Type
  • Graduate work toward an M.Div. or MAT

Internship title and responsibilities:

  • Pastoral Intern for discipleship
  • Work closely with the Lead Pastor in ensuring Alpha and other small groups run smoothly and efficiently each quarter
  • Maintain accurate roster for newcomers and regulars in each Alpha Series group
  • Serves as “helper” alongside lead pastor and/or takes lead during Alpha sessions both on Zoom, and in person, when social distancing guidelines relax
  • Provides follow-up for Alpha and other group attendees, inquiring/encouraging people to join with us as they begin to feel CCC is "home"
  • Attend weekly ministry huddle with Lead Pastor and core team members, and Prayer Walking through the neighborhoods when social guidelines permit
  • Attend weekly supervision for internship (a Fuller Seminary requirement outside of 12 hours)
  • Should be open to accept other assigned responsibilities as needed, as it relates to discipleship

Internship general description:

  • This is a 9-month, 10-12 hours per week internship, with the possibility to be extended/renewed as our funding increases
  • Included is a modest stipend of up to $1,500.00 in total for each 9 months, covering books and tuition only
  • Internship begins September 2021
