Job Description

Job Purpose:

 

The Lower Elementary Lead oversees the Kindergarten – 2nd grade ministry of First Christian Church. This employee will engage and lead students as they explore the life and teachings of Jesus. Out of these teachings, the Lower Elementary Lead will lead students as they actively form a relationship with Jesus that leads them to live out his teachings.

 

Tasks:

 

·     Oversee, administrate, plan, implement, and teach students about the life of Jesus.

·     Assist in planning family events with the Director of Children’s Ministry.

·     Assist in planning summer activities and parent seminar with the Children’s Ministry department.

·     Engage in leadership development opportunities including recruiting, retaining, and supporting volunteers.

·     Implement weekly follow up with new families in the form of mail outs, emails, texts or phone calls.

·     Implement ministry plans in order to achieve short-range and long-range ministry goals as outlined by the Director of Children’s Ministry.

·     Manage the lower elementary ministry budget in alignment with annual goals as outlined by the Lead Pastor.

·     Participate in the FCC Moms program as directed by the Director of Children’s Ministry.

·     Communicate with volunteers, parents, and our church via social media and print materials.

·     Develop a strategy that engages parents with the ongoing responsibility of shepherding their student.

·     Provide tools to equip parents as primary nurturers of their student's faith.

·     Communicate goals by completing a yearly self-evaluation for the Director of Children’s Ministry.

·     Participate in performance reviews with the Director of Children’s Ministry.

 

Work Activities:

 

·     Create and maintain safe and welcoming environments for all guests, students, and families.

·     Make decisions and solve problems.

·     Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with staff members

·     Manage time effectively.

·     Motivate, develop, and direct volunteers as they serve.

·     Recruit and schedule volunteers on a weekly basis.

·     Return voicemails and emails daily.

·     Collaborate with other staff to help fulfill the vision and mission of the church.

·     Participate in team meetings and staff meetings as requested.

·     Adhere to FCC Conduct Covenant and FCC Staff Statement of Ethics.

·     Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Children’s Ministry with or without notice.
