A highly motivated Christian with a passion for leading others to become Disciples of Christ and into Christian maturity. This individual desires to primarily focus on discipleship ministry and can develop, coordinate, and teach Discipleship programs as well as develop discipleship leaders. This person also has the ability and desire to assist with pastoral care and other ministerial duties.
Qualifications
· Must demonstrate a clear call to discipleship ministry and completely agree with Fairview Church’s statement of faith.
· Christian committed to spiritual growth and the desire to help others grow in their discipleship of Jesus Christ.
· Willingness to become a member and participate in the life of Fairview Church of Shoals and the surrounding community.
· Maintains appropriate discretion and confidentiality regarding personal information of the members of Fairview.
· Has a compassionate heart and willing ability to serve our church members in pastoral care.
· Work closely with the pastor and staff on common goals.
· Strong written, oral and leadership skills.
· Master’s degree in ministry and/or sufficient ministry experience are preferred.
Accountability
This position will work in cooperation with and under the guidance of the Pastor and the Staff-Parish Relations Team.
· Report directly to the Pastor for guidance and supervision.
· Receive annual evaluation from the Staff Parish Relations Team and Pastor.
· Work in cooperation with the entire staff team and various laity teams.
· Adheres to church policies as determined by Pastor, Church Council, and Staff Parish Relations Team.
Responsibilities and Expectations
· Develop a gospel-centered discipleship strategy for Fairview Church of Shoals that is consistent with its values and mission.
· Develop and lead Bible study groups that grows others in Christian faith and discipleship.
· Oversee an effective leadership development process that trains other church leader volunteers to be effective Sunday school and Bible study leaders.
· Assist Pastor in pastoral duties and pastoral care of our church members.
· Assist in development of local mission and ministry projects based on community needs.
· Be an active part of the welcome team, guest follow-up, and new members’ class.
· Help members discover their spiritual gifting and a place to serve.
· In coordination with Pastor and Staff regularly assess the current needs of the body and provide training accordingly.
· Report monthly to the Church Council on progress and plans.
Schedule and Working Hours
This is a part-time position, requiring ~20-24 flexible hours per week, including some night-time meetings, community events and Sunday work. Fairview Church of Shoals is committed to the practice of Sabbath keeping. A regular day off during the week will be provided.
Evaluation
The Director will be reviewed after three months and evaluated after six months by the Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Team. Afterwards, an annual evaluation will be made.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience and education, paid on the 15th and 30th day of each month. The Director will receive two weeks of paid vacation per year including Sunday morning and other weekly responsibilities, other time off can be negotiated with the Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Team. No moving or housing allowance is included with this role.
Background Check
A background check is required of all paid staff members at Fairview Church and all employees will uphold the church’s Safe Sanctuaries Policy to protect children and other vulnerable individuals. A motor vehicle records check will be required of all staff and volunteers who drive any church vehicle.
